MORGENHOF WINE ESTATE

Location:

Situated on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountains outside Stellenbosch – Western Cape.

About Morgenhof:

The French Huguenots arrived in the Cape in the 1680s. Those with winemaking experience came from La Rochelle, the traditional export harbour for the famous brandies of Cognac. More than 300 years later, a very well established Cognac family arrived in the Cape and became the vigorous owners of Morgenhof.

Originally granted in 1692, Morgenhof has had many owners in its time but none quite as dynamic as Anne Cointreau. The Cointreaus are steeped in Cognac and liqueurs, definitely not through consumption but certainly through history. Anne can trace her family tree back to 1210 when the family was already in the business. Anne Cointreau brought with her tremendous knowledge and expertise flowing from her family involvement in the great Cognacs and liqueurs.

At the end of 1998, Morgenhof was granted "Estate", status. "The dedication of the Morgenhof Team, to making quality wines for consumption worldwide, begins in the vineyards, following through to final production."

Winter lunches take the form of hearty soups, tasty phyllos, toasted tramezzinis and delicious desserts that we serve in our glass Gazebo. A crackling fire and a glass of red wine will keep away the winter chill.

Summer Lunches
Light lunches consisting of salads, cold platters, cheese plates and desserts can be enjoyed under our trees with a glass of one of our award winning wines. All our wines are available to enjoy with your lunch as well as a selection of sparkling juices, mineral waters and Gosset Champagne.

Morgenhof is the ideal setting for a wedding or any other special occasion . We offer various venues from the beautiful gardens to the old maturation cellar, and any kind of function can be catered for; dinner dances, afternoon teas, brunches and breakfasts, lunches and cocktail parties.

The Old Maturation Cellar is an ideal wedding venue with seating for 120 people.  The Gazebo is ideal for daytime occasions as it is light and airy.  The Conference Centre is ideal for conferences and seminars with seating for up to 28 people in a U-shape formation and up to 80 people in cinema formation.
